Description

Light grey linen carried round the back and out along both arms, on bare rubberwood legs. The Pebble Wraparound Linen Armchair goes where a full-sized chair would not fit and a stool would not do: the bedroom that is mostly bed, the short wall of a lounge.

Low is the point of this one: at 43cm, if your feet hang short of the floor on the chairs you already own, they reach it here. The shell is one piece, back and both arms together, so there is no join for a phone to disappear down — what slides off the cushion stops against the side.

Anyone who reaches for the arms to stand should start from a higher seat than this. The Puff Linen Armchair starts higher, and has the taller back to go with it.

  • Each Coil Works Alone — The seat is built on pocket springs under the foam — coils in separate pockets, each answering to the weight directly above it. That is what you feel when someone sits on the edge of the cushion and the rest of it stays where it was.
  • Texture In The Weave — Linen is woven rather than brushed, so the grain of the cloth is visible up close and catches the light unevenly across a panel. On a chair this small it is what keeps a plain light grey from reading as a blank block of colour.
  • Room Under The Legs — Rubberwood legs hold the frame 13cm clear of the floor. A vacuum head goes underneath instead of stopping at a solid base, which counts for more than it sounds in a bedroom where the same chair stands on the same patch of carpet for years.
  • Widest At The Arms — The legs stand inside a 62cm footprint but the chair measures 73cm across the arms. Measure the gap you are putting it in at arm height, not at the skirting board, or it goes in as far as the legs and stops.
  • A Back For Reading — Seat at 43cm, top of the back at 73cm — the back wraps forward into the arms rather than climbing. You sit up in it with a book or a laptop; there is nothing at head height to lean on.
